The Maxxis Forekaster V2 is a modern mountain bike tyre designed for riders seeking a balance between speed, grip, and versatility. Originally created as a wet-weather XC option, the Forekaster V2 has evolved into a dedicated aggressive XC and trail tyre, excelling on short-travel "downcountry" bikes (100–130mm travel). It fills the gap between lightweight XC race tyres and more aggressive gravity treads, making it a true all-rounder for mixed trail conditions.

Tyre Design

• Densely-packed, medium-height tread blocks for predictable handling and fast rolling.
• Taller, carefully spaced shoulder knobs for enhanced cornering traction and stability in tight turns.
• Sharp-angled individual knobs to boost climbing and braking traction across a range of surfaces.
• Raised casing ridges and open tread pattern for improved mud-shedding in wet or variable conditions.

Compounds (in order of increasing grip)

• Dual Compound: Blends lower rolling resistance with increased cornering grip, ideal for trail and XC use.
• 3C MaxxTerra: Intermediate compound offering more traction than 3C MaxxSpeed, but with better treadwear and less rolling resistance than MaxxGrip. Strikes a balance between grip, durability, and efficiency for aggressive XC and trail riding.

Casings

• EXO: Lightweight, cut- and abrasion-resistant sidewall protection for rocky or technical trails; maintains flexibility and low weight.
• EXO+: Enhanced version of EXO for extra sidewall durability and puncture resistance, suitable for rougher terrain or heavier riders.
• Tubeless Ready (TR): Allows for lower pressures, improved traction, and reduced risk of flats.
